Questioning title

[edit]

I'm not sure if this shouldn't be retitled as "List of Thunder Gods" per Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists). Thoughts? --Chaser T 23:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and almost did it myself. I had hoped it would become more than a list but I am not the person to write it. Billlion 06:54, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused. You're the only one listed in the history. --Chaser T 07:13, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I should have said. This was moved from a section that had grown to dominate the page Thunder, and Thunder god redirected to Thunder.Billlion 21:25, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganizing page names

[edit]

Suggesting creating a new page "God of Thunder (disambiguation)" and moving "God of Thunder" page into "God of Thunder (game)". Default page for "God of Thunder" should be "List of thunder gods", possibly renamed as "God of Thunder". --Drieakko 10:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doing the move now. --Drieakko 15:48, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indra can be classified as under the Eurasian Gods as he has far more in common with the Hittite/Hurrian deities,Zeus and Slavic Gods than with the Chinese deities

Suggest

[edit]

Suggest keep the list as a menu, but expand the sections substantially into paragraphs. Goldenrowley 05:19, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Table instead of a list

[edit]

I propose a table instead of a list, it looks much better and is much easier to look through. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_deity#List_of_death_deities is an excellent example of what I mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.174.174 (talk) 17 November 2010

Sounds good. Go for it. :) -- Quiddity (talk) 01:39, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gene Simmons?!

[edit]

Some wag added Gene Simmons to the list. While I appreciate the joke, he has no place in a list that, as is explained in the lede, is for "...the personification or source of the forces of thunder and lightning..." Unless anyone can provide some pretty impressive justification for his inclusion on theistic grounds, I'm going to remove him. Occam's Shaver (talk) 17:20, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

East Asian Gods?

[edit]

A user on a Chinese forum mentioned this article and the quite large number of Gods in this part of the list. Made a quick Google search and only this page plus some 10 or so turned up. What are the sources for all these names? —Giratina000 ¡Hola! 23:52, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please no ethnocentric fake history

[edit]

The "European continent" was invented in the 18th century, everyone with a minimum of general knowledge knows the cultural spheres of peoples such as Greeks and Phoenicians was the Mediterranean (especially the Eastern Mediterranean), not "Europe" and "Middle East." Unverifiable figures

[edit]

There's a couple dubious figures that I couldn't find sources for under the South Asian list, I've removed them for now but if anyone has an actual source to prove their mythological status feel free to add either of them back. Drachenfraktale (talk) 11:19, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Change article title to List of lightning gods

[edit]

While the concept between lightning and thunder in mythology are largely the same, I think it's important to establish the grammatically correct usage of the terms: thunder refers to sound while lightning refers to the actual electrical matter. Therefore, it would make sense to move this page to "List of lightning gods" for better accuracy. Just Your Average Stellaron Hunter (talk) 02:21, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Missing gods?

[edit]

Are to following missing on this list?

Renaming: List of lightning and thunder deities

[edit]

I believe the article should be renamed to the above. Most of these lists use "deity" rather than "god". Plus, having lightning in the name also seems right to me. Thoughts? --Karama20 (talk) 08:25, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
